On Saturday 13th May we arrived on Langkawi (by ferry which takes about 3 hours from Penang).

As we (well, me) did not want to cope with the taxi drivers we took an Über to Pantai Cenang. Pantai Cenang is a pretty touristic town with a nice beach and loads of bars and restaurant. As this island is tax free alcohol etc. is much cheaper than on the mainland. Perfect!

Our hostel Gecko Guesthouse is very basic but what can you expect for 14 € a night? As long as it is clean we are happy (quick note: if you do not like cats you should not stay here...there are 15 cats the owner took in and takes care for them now).

We spend two days with our new friend Willem (he took us one night out to that crazy clubthing in the middle of nowhere) and his dad Jack (Koos). I can tell you that is hard work hahaha. We had a lot of fun and spend one entire day at the beach just chilling (together with lovely Jamie and an olderly weird guy) and talking.

They played some footbal with the locals and I took Jack shopping for his wife, daughter and grand children. What a nice man.

On the 14th April we watched Feyenoord winning the championship. This was actually the first time we wished to be back home for just that day. Congratulations Feyenoord!!

On the 15th of April Rick and me had a lazy day as it poured the whole morning, after the rain we wandered around and watched the honouring on the phone at The Cliff restaurant (great views there).

Today we rent a scooter and cruised over the island. We found some amazing waterfalls but you had to climb 8.364.853 stairs to get there.

Swimming there was a lot of fun for Rick. He used the stones as a slide (I only jumped in there quickly as I am not that much of a water fan).

After that we were thinking to take the cable car but found it too expensive. We have been in so many gondles before and the view from the waterfalls were great as well so we did not take the cable car.

This is our last day in Malaysia. We will take the ferry tomorrow to Koh Lipe (Thailand). Willem and Jack made our stay on Langkawi unforgettable. Thank you guys for your generosity! We hope to see you guys again...who knows maybe even in Mexico :)
